I painted two sculptures for the Hello Koala public art trail project in Port Maqcuarie, NSW Australia:
"Radiant Heart" sponsored by ABC Mid North Coast, symbolizes the essence and brightness of Port Macquarie Hastings region using different ray of colours that speak for each of its attributes: relaxing, happy, passionate and natural lifestyle. These rays irradiate like the sun from the koala’s eye and chest: its visionary, fueled and lively heart that is Port Macquarie.
"Starry Soul" sponsored by Discover Magazine, reflects the uniqueness of Port Macquarie Hastings region: the sea and the beach, the frangipanis, the starry night, all elements coming together in a spiritual and natural environment based in the four elements: fire, water, earth and wind. This koala complements with the second koala “Radiant Heart” as it represents night time.
In September 2014, the Port Macquarie Hastings region will be populated with a number of large-scale animal sculptures, manufactured in fibreglass and hand painted by celebrity artists, professional artists and community groups.
Hello Koala is a bold, ambitious and imaginative sculpture project, which celebrates one of Australia’s iconic animals – the Koala. Above all, it is designed to generate a sense of fun and surprise for everyone who comes across one of the creatively decorated koalas resting in parkland, lazing by the beach, waiting outside the shops, or playing with school kids.
The Hello Koala project is inspired by the highly successful Larkin With Toads public art project in Hull UK in 2010 and has been conceived by Arts and Health Australia.
