Acrylic and oil on canvas. Framed. 43 × 33cm
During my art career I have been painting portraits of children with their spiritual animal carried on their shoulders, symbolising the important relationship we have with nature and our environment through colour, innocence and kindness. This artwork represents a ‘Catrina’, a widely recognized Mexican symbol for Day of the Dead, holding a ‘Xolotl’ dog on her shoulders which is a powerful deity in Aztec mythology associated with fire, lightning, death, and the underworld.
